How the move works
You add the PigeonDB export file in Newbred under Import/Export. It is recognised as a PigeonDB file and imported in the background while you keep working. When it is done, you see how many pigeons were added, skipped and failed.
What comes across
For every pigeon: the band number as its ring number, sex (cock or hen), date of birth, colour and eye colour. The name, family or strain, status and the free text about the pigeon are kept in its notes. Colours that do not exist in your account yet are created.
Parent links are not carried over by the PigeonDB import. After the import, you set the father and mother on each pigeon, or you import the pedigree from a spreadsheet with the parents as ring numbers, which does link them.

Download your PigeonDB export
Save your pigeons from PigeonDB as an XML or CSV file.
Import it in Newbred
Open Import/Export and add the file. Newbred recognises the PigeonDB format by itself; there are no columns to match.
Link the parents
Open a pigeon and set its father and mother, and the pedigree builds itself from there. Pigeons whose band number already exists are skipped, so you can safely import a newer export again.

Should I choose the XML or the CSV export?
Both work and bring in the same details. Use whichever your export gives you.
How many pigeons can I import?
That depends on your plan: your account holds 25 birds on the free Starter plan, 500 on Hobby Breeder and an unlimited number from Pro Breeder. Pigeons beyond your plan's limit are skipped and listed after the import.
Can I keep using PigeonDB while I try Newbred?
Of course. Import an export, try Newbred on the free plan and import a newer export later: pigeons that are already in Newbred are skipped.
